COVID-19 Studio Guidelines

Gotta Dance actively monitors news and developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The following guidelines will be evaluated and updated regularly based on the latest CDC and NJ government guidelines. As of July 29, 2021, all dancers, educators, and team members of all ages will be required to wear masks when dancing indoors because the current level of community transmission in Somerset County, New Jersey, where all four of our studios are located, is “substantial” per the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker website https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view.

If these guidelines change we will update this page and email all families.

In-Person Classes

We offer fully in-person classes that meet weekly. Dancers will maintain at least 6 feet of social distancing at all times except when passing.

Illness Procedures

  • If you have a cough, fever, or are sick please stay home. You are welcome to participate in virtual classes instead.
  • Dancers who test positive for Covid-19 or are a close contact to someone who has tested positive must quarantine for 10 days and have been cleared by a doctor and must provide documentation. We will follow all state guidelines for contact tracing.

Important Arrival Procedures and Departure Procedures

Arrival Procedures

Please arrive on time! Punctuality is crucial in order to properly enforce our safety procedures. Please review our procedures thoroughly and carefully because some have changed since last season.

To minimize exposure:

  • Enter the building exactly two minutes prior to the beginning of class with your mask on.
  • Change into your dance shoes.  Place all of your belongings including street shoes and coats in your dance bag. Water bottles and dance bags are the only items allowed in the studio.
  • Enter studios directly after changing shoes and use hand sanitizer.
  • Dancers will use the bathroom within each studio instead of the lobby.
  • Dancers will take water breaks during class. They will sit down, take off their masks and take a quick drink of water and then put their mask back on.
  • Parents may observe class by logging into zoom and watching from their devices outside of the studio. Parents must turn their cameras off while observing.

Dancers ages 2 1/2 to 3rd grade

  • Only parents of 3rd grade and younger dancers are permitted to escort their dancers into the lobbies, assist with the changing of shoes and drop them at the classroom door.
  • Parents must exit the building immediately after drop off.
  • Should a young dancer need some assistance with adjusting to class, parents may sit next to their dancer in the studio or on the side of the studio until their dancer can be left to join the class independently.
  • Note: Baby Ballet dancers are required to be accompanied by a caregiver for the entire class.

Dancers ages 4th grade and older

  • Dancers ages 4th grade and older may walk into the studio lobbies independently no earlier than two minutes before class to change their shoes and prepare for class.

Dismissal Procedures

  • Maintaining social distancing, dancers will be dismissed by an InTurn or Dance Educator out the front entrance of the Bridgewater, Warren and Martinsville studios and out the side door of the Basking Ridge studio.
  • Please pick up your dancer promptly. If you are over 5 minutes late then your dancer will wait in the lobby.

Fully Virtual classes are always an option

  • Dancers must turn on their cameras to take class virtually. If cameras are not on then dancers may not participate.
  • We have made significant improvements to our cameras to enhance the virtual class experience and connection to the dance educator.
  • This season we will be using zoom to dance virtually. Zoom links will correspond with each studio and will be emailed separately. The links will stay the same for the entire season so please save and/or bookmark them.
  • Parents are welcome to watch class via zoom but we ask that you turn your camera off.

Daily Safety Protocols in place

Everyone is required to:

  • Wear a mask. If your doctor says that you can’t wear a face mask we understand but you must take class virtually. There are no exceptions.
  • Use hand sanitizers at arrival and departure.
  • Complete COVID-19 forms (submitted at registration) will be used for contact tracing if that is necessary.
  • Maintain at least 6 feet of social distance from everyone at all times.
  • There will be no physical contact between dancers at any time.

Important Preschool Note

Before COVID 19 we would be able to hold hands with preschoolers and hug them if they were having separation challenges. Because we need to maintain a social distance, all Baby Ballet dancers are required to be accompanied by a caregiver for the entire class. This will help dancers transition into class and learn the rules. All preschool dancers (ages 2.5 years to 5 years) will receive a bag of dance props for each dancer to bring back and forth to class.

Daily Cleaning Procedures in place

Cleaning using an EPA Registered Disinfectant and Sanitizer

Floors are cleaned using Simple Green D PRO and barres, doorknobs and bathrooms will be cleaned using Clorox, Lysol, or Fantastic.

MERV Filters installed in all HVAC Systems

Our studios have MERV-13 air filters installed that improve indoor air quality by trapping and blocking 98% of airborne particles. These will be changed every three months which is double the recommended six months. There are also additional Medical Grade air filters installed that clean the air in the studios every hour.

Dance Attire & Attendance

We ask that dancers wear the class dance attire to in-person classes and when they dance at home. Class attendance will be taken in every class.

Acrobatics

Acrobatic dancers will be six feet apart at all times except when passing. Dancers will use hand sanitizer multiple times and will be spotted. Mats will be sanitized in between classes.
